§ 46-156. Same—Removing vehicle; reclaiming by owner or operator.

  • Whenever any vehicle shall be found parked in any parking meter space overtime and beyond the period of legal parking time established for such place by the traffic authority, or shall be found parked therein during any period when parking is prohibited or shall be found parking in violation of any of the provisions of any resolution, rule or regulation of the traffic authority, such vehicle may be removed or conveyed by or under the direction of a member of the Department of Police by means of towing the same or otherwise to a public garage in the City and such removal shall be at the risk of the owner. Before the owner or person in charge of such vehicle shall be permitted to remove the same from the custody of the Department of Police, he shall furnish evidence of his identity and ownership or right to possession, shall sign a receipt for said vehicle, and, for a first violation, shall pay to the Clerk of the Police Department at headquarters a fee of three dollars ($3.00), plus storage charges at one dollar ($1.00) per day. For each subsequent violation he shall pay a fee of five dollars ($5.00), plus storage charges.
