§ 46-157. Same—By notice requiring appearance at police headquarters, payment of specified sum.

  • In lieu of towing such vehicles to a public garage, as provided in section 46-156, a Police Officer may serve upon the owner or operator of such vehicle or attach to such vehicle a notice directing the owner or operator thereof to appear at police headquarters in the City before the time specified in such notice. When any person shall receive such notice from the Police Department to appear at police headquarters, such person may pay to the Clerk of the Police Department, within forty-eight (48) hours from the time appearing on said notice, the sum of one dollar ($1.00) and upon payment of such amount within said time, a prosecution under this division shall be barred. Upon failure to make such payment within the time aforesaid, a warrant to appear before the superior court shall be issued unless such person shall pay to said clerk the sum of two dollars ($2.00) within three (3) days after the expiration of the aforesaid forty-eight (48) hours.
